T-Minus 18 days...

So today is Sunday, November 21! Only 18 days til my first final review and the pressure is on! For those who don't know, in architecture school, instead of being given final exams, you get a final review. This is when guest professors and practicing professionals come in and sit in our a presentation given by you and all your classmates. During this review, you need to have many many drawings of your project and many many diagrams/ drawings that explain your design process. This is extremely nerve wrecking! Everything must be perfected, from your line weights to your font to how you speak in front of a live audience. So far my project had some bumps but the concept is almost complete. In a few sentences, my design is based of given constraints of a difficult setting, the Adirondack mountains. My structure is embedded into a extremely sloping hill and acts as a machine that scoops light into parts that do not naturally receive light.

It's quite a odd shape that developed over the course of these past few months, but I truly am proud of myself for what I've accomplished. I definitely had the help of great classmates who are always willing to lend a helping hand. (And a super awesome roomate who's always there for emotional and creative support ;) Although there were many moments of frustration and doubt, I feel that I've come a long way. I hope I can come back in my future times of desperation and read back to myself how I feel.

When you don't know how to use computer programs, it can be the most frustrating thing EVER. Simple commands can be so frustrating where you just want to throw your computer into the wall. I hate it when I can see what I want to happen in my mind, but I can't make it work on the screen. Thank God that I took a AutoCad course before school started and also dabbled in a bit of Photoshop/ Indesign. Hopefully I will be able to catch up with some of my other classmates who are already familiar with these programs. Sigh I'm almost done! I can almost see the finish line! I must get there!!! It seems so far away but I must keep my hopes up. I can't wait to relax over vacation and just be able to breathe.
